RVNL shares see ₹827 crore block deal, second in two days; Stock crosses ₹600
As many as 1.4 crore shares of the railway PSU worth ₹827 crore changed hands in the transaction as per data available on the exchanges.
The number of shares exchanged are 0.7% of the company’s total equity. Shares changed hands at an average price of ₹585 per share.
Buyers and sellers in this transaction are unknown.
This is the second straight day where such a deal has taken place in RVNL. On Monday, 1.5 crore shares of the company, or 0.8% of the total equity had changed hands in a deal worth ₹806 crore. Shares had changed hands at an average price of ₹560 per share.
The government currently owns 72.84% stake in Rail Vikas Nigam as of the March quarter. The June quarter shareholding pattern is yet to be updated.
Shares of Rail Vikas Nigam hit an intraday high of ₹620 on Tuesday, extending its gains for the fifth straight session. The stock had risen 15% on Monday, following Friday’s 17% surge.
The railway PSU also crossed ₹1 lakh crore in market capitalisation on Friday, becoming only the second railway stock after IRFC to achieve this milestone. The stock currently has a market capitalisation of ₹1.22 lakh crore.
Shares of RVNL have cooled off the highs of the day and are currently trading 1.3% higher at ₹574. The stock had made its stock market debut in 2019 at an IPO price of ₹19. Shares are up over 30x from its IPO price.
