Traffic Safety Emphasis in Wenatchee Yields 37 Citations | Columbia Basin
WENATCHEE – The Wenatchee Traffic Unit, in collaboration with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit, conducted a multi-jurisdictional traffic safety emphasis on July 9. The operation, held in the vicinity of Ninth Street and North Chelan Avenue, focused on curbing distracted driving, ensuring seatbelt compliance, and enforcing adherence to traffic signs.
During the two-hour enforcement period, officers stopped a total of 37 drivers for various violations. Among these, 20 drivers were cited for not wearing their seatbelts, 7 for making unlawful turns on red lights, and 6 for using their cellphones while driving. Additionally, 4 drivers were found to be without insurance.
Authorities have announced that similar traffic safety emphases will continue throughout the summer. Drivers are reminded to wear their seatbelts, refrain from using their phones while driving, and pay close attention to traffic signs to avoid receiving a ticket.
