According to a media report, Toyota is working on ways to keep IC engines alive in the future.
For starter I would like a Tesla Model-3 with half the battery size, with a V-Twin 200cc from the KTM Duke200 coupled to a micro-alternator big enough to power the battery all day along, ok, may be it can sound a bit nice too , hyper engineer the twin pot to maximize battery charging tech.
And have a combined range of about 500kms with full battery charge and 15 liters of petrol to boot; basically a hybrid but without coupling the petrol engine to the axles directly, instead only powering the batteries.
Add in a plugin socket too, so you can fast charge both petrol and the battery over a tea & samosa stop.
Loose the satellite background expensive tech, loose ADAS and all the unwanted sentry mode tech. Just a simple plain jane EV/Hybrid car with a good 4-6 airbags, ABS, nice AC and simple audio & effective HVAC.
Price it around 20~lacs, if only wishes were… sigh.
