Tesla Cybertruck recall overview:

Who: Tesla issued a recall for 11,383 model year 2024 Tesla Cybertruck vehicles.
Why: The recall was initiated over concerns a cosmetic applique affixed to the exterior of the Tesla Cybertruck vehicles trunk bed rim could become loose or separate from the vehicle, creating a potential road hazard for following motorists.
Where: The Tesla Cybertruck recall is nationwide.

Tesla issued a recall for more than 11,000 of its model year 2024 Tesla Cybertruck vehicles over concerns a cosmetic applique affixed to the exterior of the vehicles’ trunk bed rim may not have been installed correctly.

The recall involves a total of 11,383 model year 2024 Tesla Cybertruck vehicles manufactured between Nov. 13, 2023, and May 26, 2024.

Tesla said it is concerned the cosmetic applique — known as a sail applique — on the recalled Cybertruck’s could become loose or separate from the vehicles, possibly creating a road hazard for other drivers.

“If the applique separates from the vehicle while in drive, it could create a road hazard for following motorists and increase their risk of injury or a collision,” the Tesla Cybertruck recall says.

Affected Tesla Cybertruck vehicle owners to be notified Aug. 18

The recall is the fourth issued for the Tesla Cybertruck vehicles since the model made its debut last year, reports CNN

Tesla said it plans to remedy the issue by replacing or reworking the sail applique — at no cost to drivers — so that it “meets specifications” and “ensures sufficient adhesion” for the applique and the vehicle’s deck rail.

Affected vehicle owners will be notified about the recall on Aug. 18, 2024, according to the Tesla Cybertruck recall.

Tesla issued a separate recall at the end of May for more than 125,000 2012-2024 Model S, 2015-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles over concerns their seat belt notification systems don’t work properly.
