TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The price at the pump rose to match a 2024 high last week, according to AAA – The Auto Club Group.

On Friday, the average price per gallon in Florida hit $3.64, tied for the highest average this year.

Despite matching the heights set in mid-April, the price per gallon has fallen 3 cents to an average of $3.61, only 3 cents higher than this time last year.

The price is also well below the 2023 ($3.85) and 2022 highs ($4.89), and AAA believes relief may be on the way.

“Drivers will likely be happy to hear that they may soon get a break from rising prices at the pump,” said Mark Jenkins, Public Relations Manager for AAA. “The price of oil took a step back last week, enabling gasoline futures to drop 20 cents per gallon.”

The most expensive prices in Florida can be found in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.77), Naples ($3.70), and Homosassa Springs ($3.68).

The least expensive gallon of gas can be had in Crestview-For Walton Beach ($3.35), Pensacola ($3.37), and Panama City ($3.38).
