National clothing retailer to close at Destiny USA after filing for bankruptcy

Syracuse, NY – The chain rue21, a national clothing retailer specializing in trendy teen clothing and shoes, is closing all of it stores, including the one at Destiny USA, after filing for bankruptcy last week.

Based in Pittsburgh, the retailer filed for bankruptcy on Thursday, according to news reports. The chain plans to close all of its 540 stores in four to six weeks and sell its intellectual property, MassLive.com reported.

The retailer opened at Destiny USA in 2022.

The company has been facing financial problems and losses recently, according to CNN. The retailer filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and again in 2023.

There also is a rue21 in Waterloo Premium Outlets and another in Rome.
