Farmer’s Market Season open and blooming
BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Saturday kicks off the official start to the growing season, and BisMarket is ready for business.
“We have our first Bismarket of the season,” states the market’s Board Vice President Courtney Hamilton, “which we are super excited for. Our season goes from June to about mid-October.”
Bismarket will be open every Saturday on Sweet Avenue in Bismarck from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Hamilton says that farmers markets are important not only for vendors, but for the community as a whole.

“What we love to do is bring the community together,” she adds. “By showcasing our small business vendors and farmers, we get to have that money stay in the community, and build it up. We love to have people from all walks of life visiting Bismarket to see what we’re all about. We’ve got families, their dogs, their cats, and their lizards. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy.”, Hamilton shares.
Hamilton also adds that farmers markets are unique in their own way.
“It’s a way to get involved with who is making your own products,” she continues. “It’s a way to get connected with other people in the community who are doing amazing things.”
Vendor Sam Gilmore agrees, and states that farmers markets are a great opportunity.
“The Farmers Market is a great way for me to connect with the community, ” he states, “and be more face -to-face with a larger crowd of people. Whereas in a storefront, you have to convince people to step inside the store and that can be a little bit challenging.”
The Bismarck Farmers Market is set to begin in July. Mandan plans to begin their Farmers Market on June 15th.
