Expect A BMW R1300 GS Adventure Soon

BMW ASA 2

Back in late 2023 when the BMW R1300 GS debuted, we noted that there was no Adventure version of the bike, despite three other variants being named. It looks like that’s about to change, as Motorcycle.com has uncovered government paperwork from Switzerland that shows an Adventure version is coming for 2025.

If past Adventure versions of the GS are any indication, that means the new machine will get a bigger gas tank and probably a 21-inch front wheel. The first upgrade gives you more fuel range, the second makes for easier off-road riding. You can also likely expect some parts such as skid plate and other armor to come pre-installed.

One other option that will be available, that isn’t currently on the market: The new bike will have BMW’s Automated Shift Assistant as an add-on. Pay extra, and you can upgrade the bike to have clutch-free shifting (read about that technology here).

For riders who don’t want the Automated Shift Assistant, the six-speed standard-shift gearbox is going to remain the stock configuration of the R1300 GS (and presumably the rest of the R1300 series—we expect other models to be released in the 2024 show season).

Dennis Chung at MO also figures the updated Adventure model is going to come in a new paint job:

When BMW announced ASA, it used photos of a red model with hand guards but bodywork that did not appear to match the R 1300 GS. We theorized that the pictures were actually of the GS Adventure, and the certification data suggests that might be the case.

We’ll share more info when we get it!
