Itasca Waters’ Water Wisdom to present on mining and water quality July 11

GRAND RAPIDS — Itasca Waters will continue its online Practical Water Wisdom Series at noon on Thursday, July 11.

The series runs for an hour beginning at noon, typically on the first Thursday of each month. The webinars are free, open to all and include an interactive Q&A session.

Patrick K. Schoff, acting director of research and innovation manager at the Natural Resources Research Institute at the University of Minnesota Duluth, will present, “Mining and Water Quality and How the Two Can Live Well Together in Northern Minnesota.”

“Join us as we learn about the intricate relationship between mining activities and water quality management in northern Minnesota,” a release said. “With its rich mineral deposits and abundant freshwater resources, the region faces the dual challenge of economic development through mining while safeguarding its pristine water bodies.”

Attendees will learn innovative approaches and best practices aimed at achieving a balance between mining operations and water quality preservation.

The Practical Water Wisdom series is the brainchild of Itasca Waters, a nonprofit organization located in Itasca County whose mission is to team up with other organizations and concerned citizens to maintain abundant, clean water for continued health, enjoyment and a strong economy.
